Five Christmas and New Years Party Photography Ideas and Tips

Five Christmas and New Years Party Photography Ideas and Tips

Planning your office or corporate Christmas or New Year’s party can be so much fun, but also stressful. You want to ensure the venue is perfect, the food is amazing (and there’s enough), and the entertainment creates the wow factor that your guests will be raving about around the water cooler on Monday morning.

It might seem obvious, but have you considered capturing those memories? or even combining the entertainment with the photography? Here are five tips and ideas on how you can enhance this year’s Christmas or New Years party with photography.

1. Polaroid Photo Booth (DIY)

Given the digital age we live in, nothing is only lived once – it’s shared and reposted over and over again on social media platforms. They say that once on the web, always on the web. Given Christmas and New Years is a time to let your hair down, celebrate the wins, new friendships formed and challenges overcome, having this blasted over the internet is not ideal but you want the memory to last.

A super simple way to avoid the digital footprint is with a Polaroid photo booth. To execute you will not need a professional photographer, just a Polaroid camera and film and a well lit photo wall backdrop to pose in front of.

2. Roll Out The Red Carpet (DIY)

Put your guests in the spotlight and make them feel like celebrities as they arrive at this year’s Christmas party.

A Red Carpet Experience will make your guests feel as though they’re arriving at the Golden Globes, stunningly like Emma Stone and in style like Ryan Gosling did when they won earlier this year.

It’s sophisticated and fun and doubles as a selfie wall for guests to pose in front of all night.

The execution: a red carpet and bollards, pretty backdrop, beautiful lighting, a paparazzi photographer and if you wanted to go as far as video, someone interviewing guests – “who are you wearing tonight?”.

3. Giphy Studio

Gifs are fun. Full stop. They are fun to watch, fun to make and fun to share. But really, when do you ever get the chance to make your own? This year’s silly season is the perfect opportunity to get a giphy studio. It will have your guests in stitches.

To execute you will need the help of The Ultimate Selfie professionals.

4. Selfie Studio Photo Booth

Selfies have absolutely taken the world by storm, and with the power of technology photo booths have gone from being in the big boxes you would see in shopping malls (or still do) to compact selfie photo booths that can be set up practically anywhere.

With a Selfie Studio Photo Booth you either pose in a full length mirror or a tablet, then bam the photo is taken on a professional camera and automatically shared on social media, or if you want to go old school it can be instantly printed. What a great gift for your guests to take home too.

To execute you will need the help of The Ultimate Selfie professionals.

5. Green Screen Photo Booth

Green screen photography can take your guests anywhere in the world, right back in time or unimaginable places.

What is green screen photography? It’s the process of photographing people in front of a green screen and superimposing them onto a digital backdrop of your choice using specialised software.

It is very popular at themed events. Think Great Gatsby with all the glitz and glamour, or fun Christmas backdrops that will transport your guests to the North Pole with Santa and his elves.

To execute you will need to hire the professionals. Speak to the EventPix team about how we can help.

Sizzling September with EventPix photographers

Sizzling September with EventPix photographers

Corporate awards featured during September included the Australian Law Awards and the new Women in Finance Awards at The Star, and then at The Westin the Independent Financial Advisors gathered for the ifa Excellence Awards.

In Melbourne we once again covered Integrate for InfoComm and in Parliament House Canberra we covered a media event for Greening Australia.

Stone & Chalk celebrated their second birthday with very funky functions in Sydney and Melbourne.

Our association with the ADIA continued with the SA Dental Show in Adelaide

Once again we sponsored the photography and video recording of the Australian Event Awards and Symposium which are covered in a separate post. Following the Event Awards Alicia and I took a break at the Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Festival – definitely on the return to list.

Then Alicia headed off to the Gold Coast to cover the Australian Steel Convention which was once again hosted by our friend Toby Travanner.

The Ultimate Selfie studio was in Brisbane this month for the Ramsay Health Managers Conference dinner and then the opening night of the Italian Film Festival at Palace Cinemas

We had not heard of Dan TDM until we were asked to photograph him in back in January and it was an absolute delight to work with him again for Meet & Greet events in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

More my era is Glenn Hughes, former bass player with Deep Purple, who did a Meet & Greet in Melbourne.

The Local Business Awards also kept us busy with events in Sutherland, Windsor, Mittagong and Penrith. The Local Business Awards always feature entertainment and one of our favorites is Monique Montez who recently presented her own cabaret show, The Real Thing, at the Seymour Centre as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival. In her show Monique opened up about the challenges she has faced during her career (including getting bumped from The Voice because she was too professional). Although confronting this show was very entertaining and I encourage readers to look out for a return season. Monique also has a number of corporate packages available which I can certainly recommend.

Now to roll on Rocktober

#SenseUs 2017

This year guests for SenseUs were instructed to arrive at BCEC (the location of last year’s event), from there they were transported by Murrays Coaches out to the semi-industrial suburb of Yeerongpilly. In a factory space in this suburb Raw Company have their dance studios and office. The Event Cartel turned this space into a fantastic pop up event space complete with bars and indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces.

The space was decorated by Solution Red (who also supplied technical support), the entertainment was coordinated by Onstage Entertainment and catering was by Wine & Dine’m.

On arrival guests were treated to pyros shooting off the roof of the building (by Fuse Pyrotechnics) and greeted by entertainers scooting around on segways or stilts.

Once inside the networking was punctuated by a variety of performances as guests partied into the night.

We are currently looking for a part time photo editor.

Each week we photograph the Local Business Awards and in order to deliver those images to the winners as quickly as possible the files need to be processed the day after the awards.

We photograph the winners in a green screen studio setting. Those photos need to be edited in ACDSee Pro then processed through PhotoKey. It is not a complicated process but it does require attention to detail. If you are familiar with PhotoShop or Lightroom you will learn the process very quickly.

Most of the Local Business Awards presentations are on Wednesday nights with a few on Tuesday – so the days we require you are mostly Thursday and sometimes on Wednesday.

We are offering a minimum of one full day day per week and if you are skilled at processing raw files and/or graphic design then we will have even more work available for you (the other days can be more flexible).  Our office is located in the Botanica estate, Lidcombe.

To apply please email your CV and availability.
